"The cure for anything"...

Three or so years back, I read a book that was recommended to me by a Naturopath. It quite literally changed the way I viewed the world, my self, my health. It's called The Tao of Detox, by (bestselling) Author Daniel Reid and, from memory, has an entire chapter dedicated to Negative Ions, and their immense benefit to human health and wellbeing - Apparently, the breaking of the surface tension of water, by waves, falls or evaporation releases negative hydrogen ions into the atmosphere (read more on it here). As Isak Dinesen (Danish author of Out of Africa) once said: "The cure for anything is salt water; sweat, tears, or the sea."

  2. So gorgeous, love all the beach photos . . . makes me logn for warm summer weather instead of this rain stuff:-)

  3. Oh the sea air.... it's only every couple of years that I get to see the ocean... and it is like some kind of crazy medicine that goes deep to the soul. Oh and I'm seriously envying those super flat tanned tummies....one day!

  4. Love this story Louise...

There's a NYC Scientist, Vezen Wu, who Tim Baker writes about in his book 'High Surf' who is proving that negative ions generated by breaking waves provides a natural alternative to anti-depressants. (exactly the kind of things we love to hear over on Cohabitaire)

Thanks for the great post :)
