Aaaand... It's a wrap! Almost. Miss Anoushka's room is pretty much finished, with the exception of "operation "Spice Rack" oh, and curtains, so let's take a whirlwind tour of her tiny (and it is tiny!) room:

It's fairly different from what I initially imagined, but I adore how it's come together. It's cute, rather than being too stuffy or sophisticated. One thing I wish I could click my fingers and change is all those (Dulux Natural White) white walls. I may still paint the ceiling a colour. Or I may paint a feature wall (or two!). To be honest, I'm not sure what colour I'd even do it... (thoughts?)
Hung the mini-gallery myself. Bloody hard work. Thinking I may wake up with (bulging) biceps in the morning...
Yes, more pictures...

I think every good daybed needs a couple of chunky-ass bolster cushions. Do you think I can find any in Sydney that are long enough? No. No I can't.
(above) 3 Howards Storage World tub thingies at $32 each. Nice and big, yet shallow enough for sliding under the bed. Best 96 clams I ever spent. Oh, and they come in pretty much every colour of the rainbow!
(above) Yellow/green/blue dots: "Food colouring on serviette" by Jasper Bell; Greige-y smudgy canvas: "How not to paint" by Louise Bell; Kiddy drawing also by Jasper; Small pink oil paint & graphite on canvas by (Aussie artist) Lisa Madigan; For Like Ever poster bought online from Village; Bone China Angel Wings, $340 from Have You Met Miss Jones.
Living up a long driveway, among so many beautiful tall trees means it gets super dark in our house at night (unless the moon is completely full), so I bought these great Candela Tooli nightlights online from Olifant last week after seeing them on page 42 of Adore Home magazine's "British issue" $99 for a pair - one for each of the Mini Tonics!
"Piper", Anoushka's cuddly since birth, snuggles up to a couple of Table Tonic Pink Spot Ikat cushions.
Aren't they just incredible? Bone China Angel Wings, $340 from Have You Met Miss Jones.
How. Fab. Is the blanket. Thank you mum!!!
(And no, she won't "take orders". I already asked.)
(above) Any guesses what's going on this wall??? (Hint)
So... I hope you enjoyed my little tour of Mini Tonic's (nouveau) boudoir! Early days, and I'm sure there will be tweaks and adjustments here and there, but she loves it and I do too! Oh, and lest we forget the dreaded "before" shots (below), which resemble some kind of beachside crack den when I look at them now...

The. End. (I hope)

It's looking fab, Louise! Thanks for sharing the space with us.
ReplyDeleteHow about some turquoise in there - would look great with the orange!
Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. Girly but not prissy. Snaps to you young lady.
ReplyDeletesweeeet! love the orange - not a colour one would expect in girl's room and so all the more spesh. PS: i thought layla's room was tiny - think this one beats it! xx
ReplyDeleteTurquoise...! Oooh I don't mind that idea! Only other thought I had was matching the pale pink on the FLE poster. It's so dreamy...
ReplyDeleteSo my Miss 8 has a knockout silver pouffe, but alas a Mum with no designer talent. Wanna come over and do her room next?
ReplyDeleteHoly-frickin-Moley! Can you come decorate my kids rooms?!? Seriously it looks heaven, Love it all Louise love it all.
ReplyDeleteI remember you posting about the angel wings, so happy you bought them they are just too sweet. You must be delighted and you should be well done!(Im'a gonna steal a few idealios ok) xx
Wow, I love it! That under bed storage is fantastic and I can't wait to see a picture of your spice rack storage.
ReplyDeleteLouise you have done an absolutely amazing job!! It looks so colourful, playful and cosy..I love it! Love the wall art..it really makes the room.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the colour of the walls...it needs a little something..but perhaps not the whole room..maybe a feature wall where you intend on hanging the spice racks...when you asked about a colour..I know for most mums they would say..go the pink..as it always seems to be teamed up with the orange for little girls rooms..and I know its Noushi's fav colour But I quite like the idea of green..the Panton Universe 354 is an awesome colour..and one that I actually want to incorporate into my little munchkins rooms somehow?
Otherwise there is always the safe shades of blue..or turquoise. But honestly..it looks fab as is...gold star to you honey x
Looks amazing, lucky girl Anoushka!
ReplyDeleteI can totally see this print in this room, perhaps above the bed head:
http://blackliststudioprints.com/prints/you-are-my-sunshine-gold-320-x-440-mm
Or not. The room is fab enough already, but I love love this print (which I have, well kind of have, it's sitting in a tube until my bday, but I took a sneak peek and it is awesome), would look great with the ottoman and lamp base.
That crochet bed spread is just awesome. I love it. It's so eye catching. Makes me want to find the old crochet hook and start crocheting if I remember how to. The whole room - lovely!
ReplyDeleteLooks super 'triffic! Those angel wings are amazing aren't they...she'll have those for (like) ever! Now I want to go off and make a white granny blanket! I hope Anoushka gets as big a thrill out of her room as you have :) Round of applause to you both!
ReplyDeleteWOW..WOW...WOW..what a gorgeous little room ...i'm loving EVERY SINGLE detail..the angel wings...the art..storage...and most of all that show-stopper of a BLANKET...which your mum wont take orders for :( I'm with you on those white walls...i think slightly lighter shade of duck's egg blue would look great....and it'll tie in nicely with all the other blues from the blanket...congratulations once again on a sooooper dooooper show!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous, I'm sure she is loving it. What I probably love the most out of the whole room is... I think her orange bed. It is so great and the colour is the perfect shade of orange. I can't wait to see the spice racks, they will look fantastic on that wall for sure. Yes, paint the ceiling a colour but mmmm I don't know which colour.
ReplyDeleteGood job x
Love it!! the orange bed and colorful blanket are my favs!! Lucky little tonic!!
ReplyDeleteit looks amazing Louise, what a lucky little princess! Love all the art, so so pretty
ReplyDeleteOh Louise, I absolutely ADORE it! I think it perfectly fits how I imagine a little Anoushka- the colours are amazing and I love the art wall. I want that print for my daughter's room as well- and the wings...so gorgeous. Really really love what you've done with her room!!
ReplyDeleteVery vibrant, I love it. And I want that blanket :)
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeletelouise, love the room, love the colours so sweet fit for a 3 year old princess.
can i ask where the white bed spread is from, under the crotchet blanket your talented mum made?
by the way love the orange bed, you can paint the book racks orange too, wish we had ikea here in Argentina! At least there is a new ikea due in Tempe in 2011, thats closer than the Ryde one for sure for me!
ReplyDeleteLove it! How about pale pink almost all the way up the wall, with the super strong orangey pink as a top 2' border (like the poster)?
ReplyDelete-elizabeth (modern24seven.blogspot.com)
My silly friend, you have to sew those bolsters yourself!
ReplyDeleteI love the orange bed, and with the pink it's just delicious. I'd do the palest gray on the walls with a pink ceiling. And I'd paint the back of her door with chalkboard paint, with a bit of trim painted glossy orange around the edge of the entire door to look like it's a giant chalk board piece of art when the door is shut.
I LOVE THE ORANGE on the bed. Would you share the NSC - kode?
ReplyDeleteC
Wow! Beautiful mix of colors and patterns! You did such an amazing job. What a happy room! Thanks for sharing the sourcing info, too, I love the Lisa Madigan painting! Thank you so much for introducing me to her work.

LOVE. Beatiful and simple. Love the colours and the fact that nothing is contrived, its just beatiful and organic. Well done.
ReplyDeleteLooking great! I reckon if you painted the side table a colour different colour (ie. lose the white), it might take away the need to paint the walls ...
ReplyDeleteTotally loving it sick Louise! And no wonder Anoushka does too, it looks brilliant. K xx
ReplyDeleteI am very lazy when it comes to writing comments. But the room looks so pretty, I just had to comment! Love the color combination and all the little items you have put together.
ReplyDeleteThat room needs to be in a magazine!

I have been looking for ceramic angel wings like these forever! Really hope where you bought them ships to NZ! Hope you don't mind if I post your picture of the wings on my stylishirish blog?
ReplyDeleteGreat job and what a shame your Mother won't take commissions!
ReplyDeleteI love the mix of orange and pink together. Anoushka is one lucky lil lady.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, I was flicking through the Brisbane News today and came across some of your cushions - not sure if you've seen the article yet on pg 35.

Bedroom is divine and beachside crack den had me choking on my cup of tea... nearly fell off my chair I was laughing so much!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun! I think the walls in a nice grey would look delicious..
ReplyDeleteFrom Vibe Tray to Amazing! Absolutely loving the Angel Wings from Have You Met Miss Jones! Great job Louise!
ReplyDeleteWow this is great! Thanks for sharing! Can i suggest a yellow (?) painted wide stripe going across the ceiling and down one wall (not where the gallery is).
ReplyDeleteNice work, love those wings and the crochet bed cover. I reckon a gold leafed ceiling would be an amazing finish for the room. Love your work.
ReplyDeleteOMG Louise.. Beach side crack den?? Too funny! It looks SUPER awesome! Love it.. It's so cool yet really cosy looking.. Great job! Loving it crazy like! My favourite part: The Fuscia "virtual" spice racks.. Haha! xx
ReplyDeleteI love it so much , she is one lucky girl. My favourite part....your mums blanket.Would she share the pattern? x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous styling Louise! Let me guess, you're putting up spice racks to hold her fav magazines? :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, i love it all!!! Please invite me over for a cup of Jarrah? I promise not to be creepy and take sneaky iPhone photos for personal reference! Haha xx
ReplyDeleteSo so fabulous!!! I love the gorgeous colorful blanket. Wow!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking dark teal for an accent to bring out the blues in the crochet rug and make the orange really pOp!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou could use 2 of those body pillows instead of bolsters. Fun & Cuddly.
Have a great day............Tania.
Dulux Dewpoint A324 would be a soft backdrop for the Orange & Fuschia. It would make them really SING without competing or making the small room look heavy.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day............Tania.
gorgeous!!! i think the all white walls look fab - there is already SO much colour in the room...looks really good!!
ReplyDeleteLooks super!! So vibrant and fun! Thanks for sharing. Katrina :-}
ReplyDeleteI could look at before and after's all day long, and this one is exceptionally good! Really loved watching you go from your inspiration to the final product.
ReplyDeleteI personally think a raspberry pink painted ceiling would look fantastic in here, and I probably wouldn't do it to my own room but it's a really playful touch in a girl's room!
This is what I'm picturing: http://cocokelley.blogspot.com/2011/01/bright-bedroom-ideas.html
