As I write, my entire body is aching. We've been up at our
new house (!!!) all day pulling down curtains, ripping up carpet and painting since 9am and we only just got home.
It's 8.27pm. I just had to show you the "before" shots I
took as soon as we walked in:
new house (!!!) all day pulling down curtains, ripping up carpet and painting since 9am and we only just got home.
It's 8.27pm. I just had to show you the "before" shots I
took as soon as we walked in:
(above) The front room will be the dining room,
kitchen in the middle, living room out the back.
(above and below) The front deck, which we vowed to rip
down initially (Mr Tonic, the architect, says it "destroys the
modernist facade"), but it's a really great sunny spot
(Mmmm coffee and papers on a Sunday morning...)
(above) Front/dining room
(above) Living room
(above and below) The kitchen is old and scary,
but has plenty of storage...
but has plenty of storage...
(above) Out the back garden - love this
part/angle of the house
part/angle of the house
(above) Audrey promptly found her spot in the sun
and settled down beautifully.
PS And the best part? We get to do it
allll again tomorrow. Yikes.
Its got great shape and all that sunshine too! (I am writing this in cold grey London, the thought of such a sunny deck is bliss)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing you put your stamp on your new place - hope you can put your feet up tonight before doing it all again tomorrow :)
ReplyDeletehow exciting! stressful but exciting.. looking forward to seeing it transform!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be gorgeous. And that bit further up the coast you should miss out on all the thousands of drunk Santas who're yahooing down here presently.
ReplyDeleteOne odd question - is Audrey sleeping on a dog mattress? And if so, where did you get it? My Dane is in need of something really thick and poomfy like that.
WOW Louise, thanks for sharing... your new house is FANTASTIC!! It looks like it has a great feel to it. You will love living there!! Suzanne.
ReplyDeleteThere is NOTHING more exciting and tiring about moving to a new house. I love the whole funky journey and you have made me a little jealous of all the fun stuff ahead (yes, I know, jealous is a weird word considering you are no doubt completely stuffed at this very moment). Have a great time doing up your new house. Endless hours of thought and activity ahead. (-:
ReplyDeleteLOVE the view from the back garden. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Kitchen may not be fabulous now but it's a nice space with tons of storage - could be fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteOh I can already tell that it's going to be spectacular!!! I can't wait to see it after you've put your fabulous stamp on it:) xo
ReplyDeleteI see why you wanted it. can't wait to see what you do with it!
ReplyDeleteWow - thanks for all the encouragement guys. Thanks everyone for all the encouragement. You're so great (keep it coming!!). Rouge - The cushion Audrey is on is a Country Road floor cushion from a couple of years back...! Okay - It's 6.25am on Sunday and I'm off to do it again! Aaaargh!? xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely looking house and a massive garden - so much potential! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful house. It is going to look fantastic. My only advice. Live in it for at least a little while before deciding to rip things out and up and change the aspect only because sometimes the original people got it right! We wanted to do all kinds of window insertion activities to our house and then we realised there were no windows there for a reason (eg hot westerly sun etc) xo
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful looking shell - I can't wait to see how you transform this home! Best of luck with the move next week too!
ReplyDeleteIt is fabulous and all the work will so be worth it. It's such a workout, isn't it. Who needs the gym when you are a renovator!
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing us :)
Thanks for sharing, your new home has fabulous bones and I am looking forward to seeing what you will do to it. As for the front deck, hubby is probably right but it looks like such a lovely sun trap in winter... think about it. cheers, Victoria
ReplyDeleteOoh how exciting! Have fun painting today I'm sure you will, despite the achy body. It's a good kind of pain isn't it, when you have accomplished so much. I can't wait to see what you do with the place. It looks fantastic but will look even more amazing once your furniture is in (do you have any left after the ebay purge??).
ReplyDeleteLouise - LOVE your new home! so much light, space and potential. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks very exciting and I cant wait to see how it progresses - best wishes and take care of those poor muscles! xx Melinda
ReplyDeleteLook at all that mid century goodness. It looks amazing already.
ReplyDeleteThat house has such a great feel to it, even in the "befores", so i can't wait for the afters - it will be perfect.

I comment whenever I especially enjoy a post on a site or
ReplyDeleteif I have something to contribute to the conversation.
It's triggered by the sincerness displayed in the post I looked at. And on this article "Our new house: The "before" shots (Part I)". I was excited enough to drop a thought ;-) I do have 2 questions for you if you usually do not mind. Is it just me or do a few of these responses look like they are coming from brain dead people? :-P And, if you are posting at additional places, I'd like
to keep up with everything new you have to post.

Hi would you mind sharing which blog platform you're using? I'm looking to
ReplyDeletestart my own blog soon but I'm having a difficult time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I'm looking for something
completely unique. P.S My apologies for getting off-topic but I had to
ask!
