Ever wished Ikea would: a) provide an online shopping service? b) open seventeen more stores in each capital city? c) stop charging like a wounded bull for delivery? Well, if you live in Canberra, your prayers have been answered! Bringithome.com.au ("we are not Ikea, we just bring it home") was founded by best friends Michael and Loyzek, who were frustrated at the thought of Ikea never opening its doors in Canberra, and decided there must be a way to bring Ikea products to Canberra. So they literally drive to Sydney, pick up your order from IKEA at Rhodes (which you have placed online with them), and deliver it to your door the same day. They charge 23% of the total purchase price, with a minimum fee of $69 for every order, and their next delivery date is Sturday 23rd January. How handy is that. This type of business must exist for residents of other states. If anyone knows anything, please spill!
PS The sofa above was part of the Ikea Home Project, which involved several Australian art and fashion creatives being invited to put their spin on one of the Swedish homewares icon’s most popular, and affordable pieces -The Klippan couch. The sofas were then sold via an online auction with Grays Online from 29th July – 4th August. All proceeds went to the Victorian Bushfire appeal. The Ikea Home Project marked the 30th birthday of the Klippan couch.
